Requirements

Education

• Minimum of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent.
• Completion of a professional driver training program or certification is a strong advantage.

Experience/Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a professional bus driver or heavy-duty vehicle driver.
• Must possess a valid Nigerian Class "E" or "G" Driver License.
• Good problem solving and decision-making ability
• Excellent knowledge of Nigerian road safety regulations and traffic laws.
• Familiarity with inter-city routes and major highways.
• Bilingual candidates preferred based on local business needs

Additional Requirements

• Must be physically and medically fit to drive
• Oversees and assists in resolution of customer complaints.
• Must be willing to undergo pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screening.
• Must have and operate an android phone, understand the use of google maps ans other digital navigation aids

Defensive Driving: The ability to anticipate and proactively react to potential road hazards and manage difficult road conditions (e.g., heavy traffic, adverse weather, night driving). Navigation: Skill in using GPS systems, reading maps, and following routes effectively, including managing detours or unexpected route changes. Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: The discipline to conduct thorough daily safety checks and maintenance inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition and to report any mechanical issues. Basic Mechanical Knowledge: An understanding of basic vehicle maintenance to handle minor issues or repairs when necessary.
• Safety and Regulatory Compliance Valid Licensing: Possession of a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with the necessary passenger endorsement, as required by Nigerian transport regulations. Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of and strict adherence to Nigerian traffic laws, speed limits, and hours-of-service rules to prevent driver fatigue. Emergency Response: Training in emergency procedures, including accident protocols, safe evacuation processes, basic first aid, and effective communication with emergency services. Security Awareness: The ability to be aware of potential security threats and follow appropriate safety measures to ensure passenger safety, a key consideration in the Nigerian context.
• Interpersonal and Soft Skills Patience and Calmness: The ability to remain patient and composed in stressful situations, such as heavy traffic, delays, or managing difficult passenger behavior. Customer Service: Providing a positive passenger experience, which includes clear communication, assisting with luggage, addressing inquiries professionally, and managing diverse groups of people. Communication Skills: Effective verbal communication with passengers, dispatch, and other team members. Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and effective problem-solving skills to manage unexpected issues or conflicts that may arise during a journey.
